In true Bi-communal fashion, the American Academy Nicosia had one student from North Cyprus and one from the Republic selected by the Fulbright Commission for the Summer Youth Program in the USA. Talya Jevdet, from Kyrenia and Isavella Gournari from Ergates. They will attend the Fulbright Summer Youth Program in Denver Colorado this July as representatives of the Turkish Cypriot and Greek Cypriot students at the American Academy Nicosia. Talya travels each day to the American Academy Nicosia from Kyrenia along with 15 other Turkish Cypriots. She is the top student in her class and has been active in school drama productions, art competitions and the model UN program. Isavella , an excellent academic student is also active in drama, art, and charity events. Each reflect the international nature of the American Academy and its commitment to bi-communal and international understanding.
