Our Heritage.

The American Academy was founded in 1922 as a finishing school. At a time when women were not admitted into most professions and often weren’t even allowed a proper education, the American Academy led the way by providing an English education for the daughters of many of Nicosia’s prominent citizens.

In 1976 the school was turned over to a local council and in 1977 the school was made co-educational.
